History |
Formed in 1991 as an
under 16 team.
They played friendlies for the first two years before entering
(and winning) the South Wales U16 League.
With some players becoming too old to play for the U16's, it was
decided to form a senior section, and the team was entered in
the South Wales Celtic League.
The club also won the Welsh Cup at the first time of asking,
beating Bangor City 1-0 after extra time at the Racecourse
Ground, Wrexham.
The seniors again won the Celtic League, and decided that in
order to progress they needed to enter the South West Regional
League.
Newport's success continued and they managed the incredible feat
of winning four championships on the trot, each at a higher
level than the last.
