Influential Writers and Teachers

Leo Tolstoy wrote an insightful book The Kingdom of God is Within You. He was radically converted to following the teachings of Jesus Christ, and practiced the love and non-resistance to evil Jesus taught. In A Confession he describes the process of his conversion. Easy English online versions of A Confession and What I Believe have been written by Dave McKay.

Shane Claibourne's book, Irresistible Revolution is likely to shake and stir you to the point where you may actually take Jesus at his word and sell what you have and go out and love the poor and marginalised. It is a radical book from a radical man who has been touched by the life and teachings of the most radical man who ever lived. Recommended reading. If you can't afford it, we'll send you our copy. If you can afford it, you can buy one from Zondervan. ISBN: 0310266300

Brennan Manning is a recovering alchoholic and was for many years a Franciscan priest. But to me he is a man with an intimate awareness of the unconditional love and acceptance of God. In his book, The Ragamuffin Gospel, Brennan expresses God's outrageous grace better than anyone I know.  ISBN 1-898938-10-5. Available from Paternoster Publishing
