Weapons of Destruction

Our government spends millions every week to just sustain
A Ministry devoted to destruction, fear and pain.
 It's called 'Defence'.

Some people like to fight: They practice judo and Kung-Fu
They learn to kick with savage force and chop up breeze blocks too.
In self defence.

The Penzance Pistol Club convenes up in their local hills
To shoot at cardboard silhouettes; they say it hones their skills
In self defence.

Some say that hunting foxes is as fun as shooting game
But let no huntsman kid himself: He hunts not in the name
Of self defence.

We love the things we do and therefore seek to justify
Our most defenceless deeds with every warlord's battle-cry,
Of self defence."

But stop! A hidden danger lurks in every lethal game
So let's stop fighting fire with fire - and do it in the name
Of self defence.
