Roger Wilton in his will of 1794 asked to be buried in Kildrumferton and it is this statement that causes a problem---Kildrumferton church was built in 1814

T
he church was built with money povided by what was known as the "First Fruits" fund and I have an entry from the parish records of a Wilton baptism which states :-"first baptism after new church of Crosserlough was opened"--16/10/1814

Lewis in his book "Topological Dictionary of Ireland" states that the church was rebuilt in 1814. Either this is an error in his book or was there a church already on this site??.--- No one has been able to tell me

So where is Roger Wilton buried?    Is it here?   I can not find any trace of his gravestone. Also from the parish records there is a death recorded of Wm Thomas Wilton of Cavan town 1/2/1827. This is Roger and Mary's son and is it not reasonable to assume that he was buried along with his father and mother.

In a corner of the church grounds are graves recognisable only as hummocks on the ground. Who lies in these graves has been lost with time and I am highly suspicious that this is where our Roger is buried
