The New Arrow

Photograph Of Piper Arrow
Well the time had to come in February 2005 when Sneezy was sold and a new aeroplane sought. The chase wasn't long however, because I had my eye, well hands actually, on a Piper Arrow II 200 which Brian had for sale at Blackpool Air Centre. It was in the same hangar as G-ATOO and I had long yearned for this magnificent aircraft, with its retractable undercarriage, three blade variable pitch propellor and 200 BHP Lycoming motor. All this complexity gives the Arrow a real turn of speed with cross country cruising to be had at a comfortable 160 MPH, about 50 MPH faster than a Cherokee 140.
The cockpit is resplendant in burgandy leather, and enough instruments to shake a stick at! Indeed, the panel includes dual Nav/Com radios, twin VOR's [one with ILS], DMe, HSI, autocontrol wing-leveller and the usual Art Horizon, VSI, ASI, ASI and altimeter etc...
However, those who have grown fond of Sneezy needn't be too concerned about his future, because a really great guy called Phil Moore and his wife Sue bought OO, hangaring him at Lee-On-Solent near Portsmouth. I received some photographs and an e-mail portraying Sue helping to move Mr Sneezy into his new home; you can see Phil's other aeroplane in the background, a 1946 fabric coloured Auster.
