Websites

On this page you will find a little information about, and links to, other "text friendly" web sites.

Technical

1. If you want computer training specifically relating to the needs of people with a disability and or learning difficulty, then I can highly recommend that you send an e-mail to Nigel at N.J. Training, as you will always find him to be friendly, helpful and knowledgeable-

njtrg@globalnet.co.uk

Tel: 0151 733 0085

2. If you like the simplicity of this website, and you would like advice about how to create your own, or purchase an inexpensive instruction disk, then please send an e-mail to-

Advice@AlliedLaw.org.uk

Alternatively, you can telephone-

07759-751-320

3. I use Hal version 4.5 screen reading software from Dolphin Computer Access of Worcester, England.  This clever software allows those computer users, such as me, who cannot see the monitor to listen to the text laid out on each page.  However, as you can imagine, such software cannot cope with graphics unless they have alternate text lablels or captions.  If you want to know more about, or are just curious and would like to try out a evaluation version on your computer, then take a look at-

    4. Unless Bill Gates has lost his ownership of Microsoft through a legal challenge or gambling, then a guide to the accessibility guidelines can be found at-

Legal

5. A useful and accessible website giving legal advice has been set up by Lawrights and can be found at-

6. A question often asked relates to boundary problems e.g. "who is responsible for the fence between my neighbour and I?" or "the sod next door’s trees are cutting out light to my new conservatory, what can I do?". Some answers may be found by following the next link-

8. Finding where to buy "stuff" is relatively easy if you can read a newspaper, visit the local shops or look through the "Yellow Pages". However, it isn’t so easy for those who have a disability. The next website is not only accessible, but very useful and I’ve bought and sold a number of items through its pages-

9. If you haven’t yet come across the "Friends Reunited" website, then all I can say is "where have you been?" as it’s one of the most interesting and [almost] accessible sites there is out there in "internet heaven". Just take a look [or listen] to-

10. Lingfield is a village in Surrey, very near to the Wiremill where I water ski, and even nearer to where I live.  It's a great place to either live or visit with a number of pubs, shops and stunning countryside all around.  Indeed, it even has it's own web site-
