Legislation

The legislative framework relates to:

Children in Entertainment, performing on stage, television, film, radio, commercials etc;
Children working in paid/professional sport;
Children working as models.

This Guidance is written in accordance with the following legislation:

The legislation requires that all children, from babies until they cease to be of compulsory school age, be licenced by the Local Education Authority (LEA) in which they live, PRIOR TO taking part in a performance.

Compulsory school age:
A child whose 16th birthday falls between 1st September and 31st August remains of compulsory school age until the last Friday in June of the academic year of their 16th birthday.
