Child Protection Services Information

Medical Requirements

In order to ensure that a child is medically fit to take part in a performance the LEA may require a child to take part in a medical examination if necessary. If the LEA requests a medical examination and the child is certified fit to take part in a performance, the certification is valid for six months from the date of issue.

Medical certification is required for:

  • film or television performances;

  • performances lasting more than a week in which the child is expected to perform for six days during a week (five days for sound broadcasts); and

  • every month for performance 'runs' lasting more than four weeks.

No child should be allowed to perform if unwell.

If a child is taken ill or is injured whilst in the charge of the Chaperone or tutor then a doctor should be called, if necessary, and the licence holder must inform the child's parent/carer immediately.
