Child Protection Policy Statement for and on behalf of the Nuneaton Arts Council Aim: To state the policy of the Arts Council with regards to the protection of children performing within the Abbey Theatre and detail the strategy to be followed to achieve compliance from members and user groups. Policy: The Nuneaton Arts Council is committed to the education of user groups who produce events for public performance in the regulations and best practices of the WCC and national Child Protection Service. The NAC has been very active in the drive to bring the revised regulations to the notice of local and regional groups, is a keen sponsor of the scheme. Strategy: The NAC holds all relevant information pertaining to the CPS in both printed and electronic format (on the theatre web site), both of which are freely available on request to any member or visiting user group. Each performance group who perform at the Abbey Theatre is made aware of the rules as stipulated by WCC etc, and should any group require support in the form of information or personnel (eg matrons) then the NAC will endeavour to locate and engage any local volunteer staff as appropriate. The NAC will host appropriate first aid courses (run by Warwickshire College) focusing particularly on the treatment and care of young people which will benefit all those involved with CPS duties. The NAC will also act as a coordinator for the applications for matron status, and at least one member of the Arts Council will be registered with WCC as a documentation verifier, able to confirm the status of individuals on behalf of the CPS team, thus speeding along any matron requests. Documentation: Where requested, the NAC will agree to hold on site in a secure location all relevant paperwork pertaining to the performances in progress, and to facilitate the production thereof on demand upon inspection by the WCC CPS team.
