The NAC Committee
No apology is made for the quality of the photo's, or indeed the
personalities behind them!
The information provided on this page is intended as being light-hearted and no offence
intended!!
Tony Deeming
Tony has been involved with the NAC in a variety of guises since 1982, but until
May 1999 was mainly responsible as Stage Director for the technical side of the Arts
Centre - co-ordinating the behind-scenes aspects as well as organising the staffing of the
technical roles. He has worked, over the years, with many, if not most, amateur companies,
here at the NAC and also at the Civic Hall (Bedworth), the Concordia Theatre
(Hinckley) and other venues in the area. Tony's roots (and some of his
fondest memories) are with the Atherstone amateur societies he first
worked with and, following father's footsteps, learned to love the
theatre. He seldom treads the boards himself, although it has been known in
the past (anyone remember Harry the Horse in Guys & Dolls a dozen or so
years back?). Since taking over the helm in 1999, Tony has been working hard with the new
team to push the boundaries of the NAC towards new horizons. |
Chairman |
 |
| Dave Adey
Dave has been around, well, as long as most people can remember! He's performed
with many of the local societies, usually taking the comic line for his characterisations.
His involvement at the NAC has been mainly with the Centre Theatre Company, (as in the
photo, right, playing Shadbolt in "Yeomen" 1999), or at least it was until
he found himself 'strong-armed' into the vice-chair's post in May that year!

Vice Chairman |
 |
| Wendy Foster
Wendy has been a keen supporter of the NAC and the theatre for many years,
and joined the committee as secretary at the 2007 AGM. Married to trustee
John, she's also keen to ensure that the venue runs smoothly on all fronts. |

| John Foster
John is a relatively recent addition to the committee, and although he
claims to be a novice (even at the ripe old age of **) at theatre work, he
manages to continually acquit himself backstage with more than adequate
aplomb! (Just don't try to get him to work the new-fangled devil's equipment
in the control room, though!!).
John accepted the position of trustee some years
ago, and since then has been pretty good at keeping a watchful eye on
proceedings! |

Ray Durkin
Ray is one half (the 'R'!) of the juggernaut of a panto company that is
PR Productions. After the sad demise of our previous second trustee, Roy
Woodcock, Ray was asked to take up the reins and gladly agreed. |
Trustee |

| Keith Chandler
Keith is the other of the two remaining committee members who has been around since the
building was first opened back in 1969 (when the chairman was still in short trousers!).
He's been Buildings Officer and Sound Engineer amongst other posts, and is presently our
Bar Manager and Licensee. If you look at any cable, fixture or fitting in the building,
Keith has, most likely, had a hand in putting it there! He is undoubtedly
one of the few people here who the Arts Council can definitely NOT do
without! |

Simon Winterman
Simon has been around the Abbey Theatre for some years, and volunteered
for service on the Arts Council in 2004. He heads up the marketing team
at present, which is looking at how we can improve the way that we
promote the events at the theatre.
Outside of the NAC itself, Simon is the founder member and director of a
new drama group who are bringing a regular taste of live plays to our
stage - the Sudden Impulse Theatre Company.

| Lisa
Gudger
Lisa is a local choreographer and some-time dance teacher, and has
contributed to several shows here at the Abbey and is involved with a
somewhat disreputable (sorry, Paul!) character who keeps turning up at the
theatre with a video camera, a projector, or both! Lisa agreed to the
daunting task of looking at potential funding possibilities, something we
have always needed to follow but never have the time to take up. |
Grants & Funding Officer |

|
| Dave Sedgwick
Currently treasurer of the Abbey Players, Dave has been around the NAC for a
while with that company, being a founder member of the Players. This isn't Dave's first
time on the committee, having served a short term some years ago. Dave also manages the
recently opened and succesful Abbey Theatre Costume Hire, a
joint venture between NAC and the
