McDalton Molecular Mass calculator

New

McDalton "Mac Dalton" is a freeware computer program designed to calculate formula masses. From the chemical formula of a substance its formula mass is calculated and shown together with the calculations.
  • Author: Dr Christer Svensson
  • Price: Freeware
  • Platform: Windows 9x, Me, 2000 and NT

Note: Needs Visual Basic 6.0 SP5: Run-TimeRedistribution Pack (VBRun60sp5.exe)from MicrosoftDownload Center. If you don't have already, install this first.

Buffers

The design and preparation of buffers for pH control is fraught with many difficulties. For example, the pH of a buffer is strongly affected by ionic strength and by temperature, yet we are sometimes guilty of ignoring these effects and failing to make appropriate compensations. This is a very nice Javascript powered webpage which calculates recipes for many different buffers.

  • Price: Freeware
  • Platform: Web browser

Note: The download button will take you to another website

EniG. Periodic Table

EniG. Periodic Table of Elements contains the basic data about the element in five languages. It shows visually the change of physical condition with the change of temperature. The calculating module from the programme Chemistry Assistant has also been integrated in the Periodic Table.
  • Author: Eni Generalic
  • Price: Freeware
  • Platform: Win9x/NT4/Win2k

Radiation decay

RADIATION DECAY provides radioactive decay information for 497 radionuclides. Data provided include the half life, radioactive daughter nuclides, decay chain series, probabilities per decay, and Decay product energies for alphas, betas, positrons, electrons, X-rays, and photons. The radionuclide can be selected from an Alphabetical list, or selected from a Periodic Table. (285K)
  • Author: Charles Hacker
  • Price: Freeware
  • Platform: Win 3.1 or Win95

Atoms, Bonding and Structure

Eight teaching units: Unit 1 - Elements, Compounds and Mixtures; Unit 2 - Forming Compounds, Unit 3 - Atomic Structure, Unit 4 - Chemical Bonds, Unit 5 - Ionic Bonding, Unit 6 - Covalent Bonding, Unit 7 - Structure of Materials, Unit 8 - Bond Energies. Frequent reference to the online Periodic Tables. (515K)
  • Author: Ray LeCouteur
  • Price: Free to try - $25.00 to register
  • Platform: Win 3.1 or Win95

EniG. Chemistry Assistant

EniG. Chemistry Assistant is an expression calculator for fast calculation of molecular weight of compounds (the element symbols can be written in lowercase letters). All of the calculations can be saved and recalled again. The calculator also provides a list of common physical constants and performs various conversions between English and metric units. Comment: Excellent software.
  • Author: Eni Generalic
  • Price: Freeware
  • Platform: Win9x/NT4/Win2k

BK Periodic Library

An interactive Periodic Table of the Elements for Windows. Uses element naming scheme approved by IUPAC in 1997 (362K)
  • Author: Bill Klein
  • Price: Freeware
  • Platform: Win 3.1 or Win95

MolarMas

Determines the molar mass and percent composition from a formula. Can handle enormous molecules. Common abbreviationsthat are recognized include Me (CH3), Et (C2H5), and amino acids (eg. Gly). (121K)
  • Author: Christopher King
  • Price: Freeware
  • Platform: DOS but works well in Win3.1 and Win95

Chempac3

Program to find solvents which meet your search parameters. Solvents can be searched by various experimental parameters. Let's say you need a solvent which is miscible with water, has a boiling point between 75-100 degrees Celsius and a melting point below 0 degrees Celsius. This program would allow you to search by all of these parameters at once to get a list of usable solvents. There are 13 searchable parameters including formula, molecular weight, boiling point, melting point, dielectric constant, dipole moment, viscosity, and heat of vaporization. (59K)
  • Author: John R. Duchek
  • Price: Fully working shareware ($25 in 1990)
  • Platform: DOS but works well in Win3.1 and Win95

Organic Chemistry Dictionary

Nice organic chemistry dictionary and introductory text in windows help file format.
  • Author: Ian McGuinness
  • Price: Freeware, but don't hesitate to send him a donation
  • Platform: Win3.1 or Win95

COCO Simulator

Collection of CAPE-OPEN based steady-state flowsheeting tools, including a graphical flowsheeting environment and physical/thermodynamic property packages.
  • Author: Jasper van Baten
  • Price: Freeware
  • Platform: Windows XP or higher
