It is very simple to download software from this site. Simply left-click on the word "download" or on the download button and your browser will prompt you to decide what to do with the file. Click on either the "Save File" or the "Save it to disk" button. Browse to the directory on your computer where you wish to save the file. The browser will then start the downloading process automatically.I get a "No Viewer Configured for File Type..." Error
This is a Netscape error, letting you know that it does not have the helper application set up to decode the file. That is fine, just select 'SAVE' and it will write the file to disk, you can decode it later.Handling zipped files
Files that you download from the internet as well as this site are usually compressed to minimize the time needed to download the software (compressed files usually have a .zip extension). You will need a program to "unpack" or to "extract" the compressed files. The best decompression utility is a shareware program called WinZip. Some downloads consist of a single .EXE which is the installation program for the program. In this case, double-click the file to start the installation procedure.Click on the icon below to download a shareware version of WinZip.
Once you have downloaded and extracted the file, the next step is to install the program. A good place to start is by reading the README file, if one exists. README files often explain how to set up or use whatever it is you downloaded. If you are having a problem with a downloaded file, it is possible that the file was not downloaded completely (your modem disconnected before the file finished downloading, for instance). If there is no README file, click on SETUP or INSTALL. Some downloads consist of a single .EXE which is the installation program for the program. In this case, double-click the file to start the set-up procedure.
Installing fonts in Windows 95
- Unzip the font archive
- Open your "My Computer" icon at the top left corner of your desktop.
- Click on your Hard drive.
- Click on the Windows folder.
- Lastly, click on the Fonts folder.
- Now... open the folder that has your new fonts in it.
- You can do this next step 2 ways, either highlight the new fonts and drag them to the windows/fonts folder, or highlight them all and select edit/copy from the toolbar, and then paste them into the windows/fonts folder.
- This is the important part. In the windows/fonts folder, click view and then refresh on the menu toolbar. If you don't do this, the new fonts won't appear in any programs.
- Lastly, If you had a word processor or graphics program open, you will need to close that program and restart it in order for the new fonts to be usable.
