Information and Communications TechnologyCall it what you will - Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Informatics, Telematics, Telecommunications or plain old IT - how can the technology that has helped to expose many of us to information overload (whilst not wishing to deny the obvious benefits of such technology) be used to manage information and communications more effectively. How can the vast amounts of information be managed to create meaningful and useful knowledge? What new tools do we need to create? What are the consequences of creating such tools (good and not so good)? Tools: ModelsThe findings of the Knowledge Management activities will result in a clear understanding of knowledge, information and communication processes. This will present major opportunities and significant benefits in terms of setting the framework for the development of the knowledge based systems and technologies of the future. This theme will involve working with leading and innovative IT developers to establish the next generation of technology: perhaps one where the underlying technology is reliable and transparent, and the interface is intuitive and adaptive to the user's particular needs. Tools: R&D Support ServicesAcro Logic can provide support services to product developers. This may include, but not necessarily be limited to, assistance with user requirement specifications and pilot studies to evaluate their products. (Products are assumed to be of a hardware and/or software nature. For example: database utilities, communications tools, user interfaces (functionality and ergonomics), scheduling facilities, information management tools, etc.) |
