Ideas for knowledge workshops
Here are some ideas for workshops that address knowledge related topics.
(1) The role of a 'knowledge network'
... in researching, developing and supporting the Government's
[wise] push on Competitiveness through innovation and information
and communications technology (ICT).
- potential audience: DTI, local government, educational
& training orgs., business, Regional Development
Agencies
- really more of a marketing angle
than a workshop
(2) Issues for 'Virtuality'
- keeping a geographically dispersed group working
together: motivation & benefits
- making up for limited physical human interaction
- keeping them informed but not overloaded
- potential audience: DTI, local government, educational
& training orgs., business, Regional Development
Agencies, technology developers & Internet
service/content providers
(2a) Note: there are lots of potential topics on
virtuality. The above is
just one of many.
(3) Knowledge management and meaning
- what is data, information, knowledge, understanding and
intelligence
- why is this important to [our audience]
- why this is important to the developers of next
generation technology
(e.g. Microsoft, Sun, Oracle, IBM)
- potential audience: educational & training orgs.,
business, technology developers & Internet
service/content providers, media/content publishers,
researchers
- probably should split this into two versions: one for a
general audienceand the other focused on technology
developers
(4) Expert information at the students
fingertips: Impact on the role of teachers and learning
- what happens when the student has (on-line) access to
information that is superior to the teacher's knowledge?
- potential audience: educational & training orgs. and
related orgs.
- also ties in with the proposed Education Channel project?
(5) Evaluation of IT systems: A user
knowledge system evaluation service
- for IT developers (e.g. Microsoft, Sun, Oracle, IBM)
- illustrate why they really do need this service!!
- effectively marketing some of our Network services
- steer them down the right track with: issues, needs,
vision, prototype and beta testing, and final product
evaluation in a real working environment
- potentially a very worthwhile (and profitable) route for
the Knowledge Network
- really more of a marketing angle
than a workshop
(6) Visions of the future [short-,
medium-, and long-term]: A guiding light?
- needs, process, technology, impact, issues and policies
- potential audience: DTI, local government, educational
& training orgs., business, Regional Development
Agencies, technology developers & Internet
service/content providers
- some of the above target audience may not be interested
in this topic though (that's there loss!)
(7) Education systems in the 21st
century
- needs, issues, policies, practices, challenges &
opportunities, ...
- the technology
- potential audience: educational & training orgs. and
related orgs.
