Operational Details :

First Responders and the Ambulance Service

The first Community First Responder scheme within the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) was launched officially in Trimdon, County Durham by the Rt. Hon. Tony Blair MP in December 2001. Since then, many schemes have begun in a variety of communities and public places.

The schemes are supplementary to the ambulance service, but are regarded as a very important resource, not only in the life-saving aspect which is important, but also in the spirit which involves people in helping in their own communities.

For further details of other First Responder Schemes within the NEAS please contact the Community Defibrillation Officer Mark Clissold or the First Responders/Lifelink Co-ordinator Steve Thompson at NEAS HQ on 0191 2731212.
