Operational Details : Where ? :

Where do we operate?

Originally setup in the small village of Hurworth Place, the H&D CFR scheme has grown to cover a much larger area now including the town of Darlington as well as a few outlying villages. At present there are only two First Responders who cover this area, however as more volunteers come forward we will not be looking to increase our response area but to provide a better service to the existing area.

The town of Darlington is located in the southern region of County Durham in the North East of England. Our area borders North Yorkshire where Emergency Ambulance cover is provided by the Tees, East & North Yorkshire Ambulance Service (TENYAS). Our scheme is also available to attend incidents on behalf of TENYAS across the border however this has yet to be requested.

Our area of response is determined mainly by the ability to reach all parts of our area as quickly and as safely as possible usually arriving no later than 6-8 minutes of being alerted to the incident by Ambulance Control.

First Responders are not obligated to attend each and every call passed to them by the North East Ambulance Service. In some cases, we may be requested to travel to incidents outside our normal area in which case it is up to the individual First Responder to decide whether or not they can attend.
