SCOUT
BANGERS MASHED OFF THE MENU
AS SCOUTS SERVE UP TOP NOSH FOR VILLAGE V.I.P.s
Scouts from 1st Adderbury recently
treated village VIPs to a slap up meal in recognition of the major contributions they have
made to the local community and "camp charred bangers and mash" were
definitely not on the menu!
As part of their Chief Scouts Award three of the Troops
oldest members decided to honour the villagers to a culinary feast as a thank you for all
the hard work they do in the area.

Enjoying the mouth-watering treats were Parish Councillor, Colin Banbury
and his son Nigel (Mr Banbury is also a member of the team proposing a new community
centre for the village); Robert and June Stilgoe (Mr Stilgoe is a local farmer, ex-Parish
Councillor, and village committee member); and Trevor and Nicky Maltby (Mr Maltby has just
retired as the Scout Groups chairman after several years and is well known locally
in fund raising circles).
Scouts Ross McCrickerd, Oliver Davies and James Sollis (all 15) prepared
the following meal with wine:
The Scouts prepared the whole meal themselves using fresh ingredients.
Mr Banbury passed his congratulations and thanks to the three Scouts for
"the splendid dinner and most enjoyable evening. The Scout Group can be proud of
them". Mr and Mrs Maltby said, "The Scouts obviously worked very
hard we had no idea they were such good cooks. We think they should now treat their
mums as were sure they would enjoy it as much as we did!". Mr and
Mrs Stilgoe were delighted. They said, "We wish to thank the Scouts very very much
for the wonderful meal and a very pleasant evening."
Scout Ross McCrickerd thinks the evening went well. He said, "We
really wanted to serve up an excellent meal and fun evening for our guests for the part
they play in the Adderbury Community. Mr and Mrs Stilgoe are always involved
in village events and often help the Scout Group. Mr Maltby has worked very hard as the
Scout Groups chairman for the past few years. Mr Banbury is an Adderbury
Parish Councillor and is very involved with the villages plans for a new Community
Centre which is really needed in the village."
