Hall Of Fame

Here they are - a collection of pages dedicated to top Scouts of Adderbury's past.    To get into the Hall of Fame a Scout must have lasted the course with North Oxfordshire's number one Scout Troop - no quitters here!   Its in reverse order.    Any extra information will be gratefully received!

  LEWIS MAHONY
Joe Davies
Left 25/09/07.
Lewis joined 1st Adderbury as a Merlin in 2002, later moved to the Tigers, then returned to the Merlins where he stayed as their PL until he left.   A classic memorable Lewis moment was his "ice walk" when he left his hiking boot in a frozen puddle during the 2005 Christmas Camp - not intentionally of course.   He was also the skipper of our narrowboat when we nearly suffered an "iceberg" moment ... LOCK!!!!   As a Scout he was renowned for his love of dolphins (he knows what we mean)!   Lewis was PL at three Summer Camps and regularly attended all Troop activities.   (26/00/07)
MATT PHANICHATTRA

Left 20/03/07.   Matty P joined the Troop in 2002 as a Kestrel and stayed there until he left, eventually becoming a PL.   Matt was an excellent map reader and did nearly every Scout activity going.   A couple of the memorable ones included narrow boating holiday, and five consecutive Summer Camps.   And it was at Summer Camp 2005 Matt made his world famous "confession" during a game of rounders that led to him becoming Wally of the Week!   Matt left Scouts on a high, having led the Kestrels to a Warren Trophy win for 2006.   (21/03/07)
  JAMES FARRELL
Joe Davies
Left 20/03/07.
It was the end of January 2002 that Jimmy came to his first Scout meeting.   He was a bit of a late start camper, only attending his first Summer Camp in 2005.   However he quickly adapted and showed the right skills that led to him becoming Tiger patrol leader  With Scouts Jimmy climbed Snowdon twice, went jet skiing, camped in temperatures of minus 12C, went narrowboating, caving, banana boating, and karting (amongst others) and learned how to cook pretty mean home made Chicken Kievs!     (21/03/07)
SAM BRADLEY

Left 22/08/06.   Like his brother Sam spent over five years as an Adderbury Scout and was a Kestrel throughout - the final years as PL.   Sam, or "Corporal" after his "army phase" is famed for winning the Lidster Trophy three years on the trot at Summer Camp, and is infamous for "uses of a Panda Pop bottle" and "videos on my phone".   Sam led Adderbury's Hike Oxon team to success in the spring of 2006.   (27/08/06)
  MARK BRADLEY
Joe Davies
Left 08/08/06.  Mark spent over five years as an Adderbury Scout and was one of the few lucky peeps that timed his birthday so he could attend six summer camps.   His final years were spent as Tiger's PL where (as demonstrated above) he found novel ways of delivering the food to the leaders at meal times!   We also note that Mark's hair is short in this shot, which comes from Summer Camp 2005.   Mark has just completed his GCSEs.(09/08/06)
NICK PUTT
Nick Putt
Left 30/06/05.  In the shot above Nick adopts his favourite Summer Camp pose - relaxing!   Nick's commitment to Adderbury Scouts was in no way relaxing though - he juggled long private school hours with the Troop's activities and lasted the course.   Nick was a Merlin throughout his Scout life, finishing off as PL.   Outside Scouts he was more than "popular" with the ladies, knew where all the good parties were (including the pool party where clothes were banned!) and always had the latest gadgets to keep life comfortable!   (09/08/05)
  JOE DAVIES
Joe Davies
Left 30/06/05.  Joe, or Jolly to his friends (don't ask!), was a Tiger for most of his Scouting life until he got the calling and became Kestrel's PL. Joe's unique sense of humour led to him being the only ever person to be awarded the title "Wally of the Week" twice - first at Summer Camp in 2001 and again in 2003.   And the question that will stay with him forever: "do you boil peas in hot or cold water".   Er ... yes.   Whether he cooked them we may never know, but he certainly ate them.   Little Joe is now six foot tall and piling on the pounds.   Who ate all the pies - Joe did!   (09/08/05)

ADAM MALTBY
Adam Maltby
Left 01/09/03.  Its Womble - never really knew why Adam had that name, but there ya go.   He was a Tiger from the start, rising to the heights of Patrol Leader, despite not being able to light matches in the rain at Summer Camp in 2002.   Strange that.   Its fair to say that Adam was one of the "less outgoing" Cubs to join the Troop in 1998, but that certainly changed through his teenage years: Adam was almost married by 15!  By the time he finished Scouts Adam could always be relied upon for a Del Boy style story from the weekend, and tales of life slightly off the beaten track.   Today he run's Halfords in Banbury - well at least that's what he tells us!   (09/08/05)

  LAWRENCE PUTT
Lawrence Putt
Left 08/01/02.  Lorry joined 1st Adderbury on 8th October 1996 and remained a Tiger throughout his time with the Troop.   As a PL he led his patrol to win the Warren Trophy for the best points performance during 2001.   Lawrence gained a Chief Scouts Award  with the Troop.   He showed true commitment to 1st Adderbury by becoming the first Adderbury Scout ever to balance the calls of a school day that finished at 9pm with Troop activities.   He also gave us a laugh or two: who could forget his inability to send texts to the right person ... like the rather saucy one to Gemma ...which he sent by accident to the Scout Leader!   A Lorry loved working at Fairport ... but usually had a lie down on Saturday night!!!   Well done Lorry  - can Jez have his videos back please...!. (12/01/02)
LUKE GARRETT
Luke Garrett
Left 08/01/02.  Kestrel PL Luke joined the Troop as a Tiger on 15th October 1996.   Despite his outwardly grungy nu-metal appearance Luke revealed his true musical preferences during his time in Scouts, quickly donning the costume and learning the dance for the Village People's YMCA at a parents evening!   Meantime Luke completed his Chief Scouts' Award and was a member of our winning Cyril Gardner 33-mile hike team.   In his spare time he had a preference for entertaining young ladies in his shed ... but that's another story!   Waterskiing, hiking, jet skiing, survival camp and karting - Luke did them all with 1st Adderbury.    (12/01/02)
  HOWARD WHITE

Left 08/01/02.  Howard joined Scouts on 2nd July 1996 as an Otter, but moved to the Merlins late 1999 where he eventually became PL.   Here he kept up the patrol's tradition of taking home the Lidster trophy for winning the points competition at Summer Camp.   Howard liked trophies - he was also part of our winning 33-mile hike Cyril Gardner team.   Rather cleverly Howard steered his way through his years with the Troop avoiding any gossip (which would be printable here) ... mostly by spreading stories about Tom Norton!   Trips to France, adventurous activities, survival expeditions, and hill walking all helped Howard achieve his Chief Scouts Award with the Troop.   (12/01/02)
