Earth

The Earth is the third planet from the Sun, and the fifth largest.
Our planet is 93 000 000 miles or108 200 000 km from the sun. It is 4.5 to 4.6 billion years old. The oldest rocks are
approximately 4 billion years old, and rocks that are 3 billion years old are very rare. The oldest fossils of living organisms are less than 3.9 billion years old.

The Earths atmosphere is 77% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 2% trace elements. 71% of the Earths surface is covered by water.
Our planet rotates once every 24 hours and orbits the Sun every 365.3 days. It also travels at 67 000 mls or 108 000 km per hour. Earths temperature varies between -128 ºF or -89 ºC
and 136 ºF or 57.7 ºC.
The Earths molten nickel / iron core creates an extensive magnetic field which along with the atmosphere, shields the surface from nearly all of the Suns harmfull radiation.

The Earth has only one natural satellite, the Moon.
The
Moon is 384,000 Km from Earth.
