Sun is an ordinary star like what we see in the night sky. It is one of more than 100 billion in our galaxy ( milkyway). The Sun rotates once every 27 days and is made up of 75% hydrogen and 25% helium. The hydrogen is turned into helium thus producing the Suns energy. |

spots, which appear as dark spots, are cooler regions on the Suns surface. Solar flares are eruptions of gas and particles associated with sun spot activity, and can disrupt communications and electrical power systems here on Earth. The solar wind is a stream of charged particles that blasts the entire solar system causing brilliant auroral displays. |
