Admirals House

Eat, Drink, Stay.....?

More than just a place to stay

the hotelJust a mile and a half from Alton Towers (Britain’s premier Theme Park & most popular visitor attraction outside London) and centrally located between the historic market towns of Leek, Ashbourne, Cheadle & Uttoxeter lies the picturesque village of Oakamoor.

Steeped in local history and brimming with character, Admirals House is a small, family-owned establishment situated on the edge of Oakamoor village at the entrance to the delightful Dimmingsdale section of the Churnet River Valley. Referred to both as Staffordshire’s Rhineland and Little Switzerland and designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty this enchanting wooded valley can at various local points be explored and enjoyed either by foot, bicycle, steam train or traditional narrow boat.

Situated close to the route of the well-trodden Staffordshire Way walkers’ trail, Admirals House is directly opposite a large picnic site & play area, screened by trees, which stretches beyond the River and forms the starting point to an extensive network of woodland walks to suit all abilities, as well as a less strenuous cycle trail which follows the route of the old steam railway line along the base of the valley.

the viewWe are ideally located for exploring the beautiful scenery and abundant visitor attractions to be found in the surrounding Staffordshire Moorlands, the nearby Peak District National Park, Derbyshire Dales and the potteries of Stoke-on-Trent, home to world famous china makers such as Royal Doulton, Spode and Wedgwood.

Note: In the interests of the safety and comfort of all our guests and staff Admirals House is a no smoking establishment.
