May 2008 - the first bit of real food! After an
intake of only baby milk and what she could suck off her
fingers and toes Isla is now being weaned onto solids.
A taste of baby rice was followed the next day by some
colourful pureed sweet potato. Tasty. |
|
A reunion of (most of) our National Childbirth Trust crowd
was a fun afternoon (if a little noisy at times). Here
are all the friends: Ella, Isla, Theo, Hattie and Ffion from
left to right. |
| Isla's
first holiday!
Drymen, Scotland |
|
| |
A week in Scotland
gave us the chance to climb a few hills, see a few sights
and spend some quality time as a family after a hectic month
at Daddy's work beforehand. We drove up to Drymen on
Loch Lomond for Kath and Dom's wedding and extended our stay
at Lomond Luxury Lodges to a week to enjoy some fantastic
weather and get up Connick Hill and Ben A'an. It was
also during this trip that someone taught her how to
blow raspberries! Who could that have been? |
|
Everything is interesting at age 3 1/2 months. A
"Bumbo" seat lets Isla sit up on her own and get a
whole new perspective on the world. |
|
And a visit to Watford gave Luke a chance to give Isla a
lovely cuddle. |
|
A visit to Aberdeen gave cousins Tamsin and Anna a chance
to get to know Isla and to understand about babies with a
younger sibling of their own on the way. |
|
Sleeping like a baby. |
|
Cuddles with Daddy are part of the evening routine when I
get in from work. There's not much of a routine yet
other than making sure she's up in time in the morning to
get the recommended 7 feeds a day in. |
|
And because she'll take milk from a bottle it means we can
share the duties out to willing third parties too such as
grandparents and babysitters giving us some degree of
freedom, even if it's only in our minds. |
|
She's also taking expressed milk from a bottle which means
that Daddy can even get involved in the feeding ... though
he's managed to resist the middle of the night ones so far! |
|
Isla's already quite the socialite and is always keen to
try out one of her fancy new outfits. On Sunday she
made friends with Hattie, daughter of Tanya and Steve who we
met through NCT and live just a few minutes away. |
|
Bath time is always a bit of a lottery. Some days
Isla loves the warm water and finds it very soothing ... but
on other days it's all a bit of an ordeal and nobody's very
relaxed about it. Even Isla wasn't sure what sort of
day this was going to be! |
| Special
baby gym feature! |
|
| |
Auntie Lesley and
Uncle Hugh bought Isla a fantastic bright and colourful baby
play gym which plays music, has loads of contrasting colours
to look at and some exciting rattly / squidgy / crunchy
animals dangling off it. At just a month old here Isla
is just starting to recognise the many things to look at and
potentially play with and it's just a matter of time till
she really enjoys spending time on it. |
|
And then Grandma Anne came for a week after Adrian had
returned to work to lend an extra pair of hands around the
house during the day. And, of course, to give Isla
plenty of cuddles ... just to help out, you understand! |
|
Auntie Lesley visited for a weekend from Linlithgow,
leaving her own daughters at home with Hugh to come and
visit her new niece. |
|
Auntie Helen, Uncle Pete and cousin Luke visited on
Saturday and Isla resolutely slept through almost all of
their visit! |
|
|
|
|
|
Isla especially liked cuddles with Granny Sue and spent a
record amount of time awake and alert to take in all the new
faces and activity. |
|
On 2nd January Granny Sue and Grandpa Geoff came over to
Shipham for their first visit after Isla and Sheena came
home. They'd visited briefly while Isla was in the
High Dependency Unit at St Michaels Hospital but this was a
much longer and more enjoyable visit. |
|
New Year's Day 2008 and Isla was ready for her first
outing into the village of Shipham and the first test of the
Silver Cross 3D buggy / pram combo. |
|
Isla arrived home from hospital at 6.30pm on New Year's
Eve after a course of antibiotics, a series of tests and a
few days in St Michael's Hospital High Dependency
Unit. All was clear though and it looks like she'd
just had a bit of a bug which had cleared up itself with the
help of the various measures. So all worked out
perfectly and Sheena actually benefited from some fantastic
midwife care and advice on Ward 74 while she was
there. The midwife has visited us at home and given us
a big thumbs up so everyone's happy. |
|
|
|
And then on to Daddy who was being VERY careful in the
first few hours not to drop her! |
|
First cuddle with Mummy having had a little wash, nappy
and clothes on. |
|
Isla May Warman was born at 2.52am on Boxing Day
2007 weighing in at a healthy 8lb 1 1/2oz (3.6kg). |
|
This is one of the first pictures of Baby Warman, due the
week before Christmas. On the height chart which will
one day adorn our kitchen wall he / she currently measures
in at 6.4cm. |
