Ugh the Caveman

Whether or not he is actually a caveman is still a matter of debate – because for all intents and purposes, he looks like one. With a heavy fore brow ridge; slightly shorter than normal legs; heavy thickset muscles and far too much body and facial hair. Then there is the problem of his speech, in the fact that he nearly only ever grunts and when you hear him speak over the comm.’s it’s via a translating device – a prototype development from Solrain Research, and is prone to breaking down or just not understanding Ugh at times of stress.

What confounds everyone the most about Ugh, is where he actually came from – is he a genetics experiment for extended space-flight who’s either escaped or been lost – or is he as he actually claims a Caveman – who used to live in an ice cave and eat mammoths until he was taken into the sky by strange beings and has wandered the stars ever since – since in his mind he is in the afterlife and it’s great!

When he was found in a small hut eating the remains of a very large predatory animal on one of the outlying Solrain planetary moons – the explorers were at first baffled and then terrified as he commandeered their ship and imprisoned them all with the use of only a large metallic club. Eventually he was persuaded to release the captives in exchange for some bright and shiny trinkets and lots of food – one of the trinkets was the translator, which he still wears tied into his chest hair. It was one of the captives who pleaded Ugh’s case and not have him executed, since he flew the ship as a natural and must be a Solrain in some part of his family since he bargained the authorities so well for the captives.

He entered the academy flight school with high hopes and was kicked out two weeks later for eating the principles pet sknarf over the Flames of Courage memorial. Since then he’s worked his way through every ship class open to the Solrains, and has much fun politely blowing them up in the Simulators. While on active duty, he has no fear of Conflux of any size, and has a fin of a C10 Eel mounted in his Hyperial Station quarters.

When in space, he enjoys running about the known sectors earning more money for himself, and zapping the odd 'flux he runs into. But when that call comes into his heart, he will disappear for days looking for that something that might get him home he used to know lost in time and space.
