GPO Telephone No.328
(Plessey)
1957
This Telephone No.328 is the 'extension' version of the basic Telephone No.332, and is easily be identified by it's bell on/off buttons above the dial. Originally designed by Ericsson (Sweden), it was available from the late 1930's and is an improved version of the Telephone No.232, incorporating an internal bell set. It was available in black, Chinese red, Jade green and ivory (shown here), and some models also came with the 'cheeseboard' tray. Other versions had a magneto generator fitted, with the handle protruding from the side, or a 'Watch-Receiver' fitted to improve reception in noisy enviroments. Very early models had a side-entry handset cord (very rare).
