Telephone 2/ SA4271 - Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee
(Post Office Factory)
(Fore runner of Telephone No.776 'Compact')
1977
Not a particularly old telephone, but of some historical interest, is this Telephone 2/ SA4271. It was made by the Post Office Factory to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II in 1977 and is called the Jubilee telephone. It was only manufactured in 1977, and was only available for outright purchase by customers. This was unusual at that time because most telephone instruments were for rental only.
After 1977, this prototype became the Telephone No.766 'Compact', and was available in light grey, light blue or brown.
