Maestro Not content with being the only Metro owner in the register, I have to admit to also owning another Tickford, this time a MG Maestro Turbo. Not quite the grand-dad car my daughters accuse it of being as it is fitted with a two litre turbocharged and intercooled engine developing 152PS. The 0-60 dash is achieved in 6.7 seconds and top speed is 128mph, though not as fast as the Capri, this was still fast enough, at the time, to claim to be the quickest MG ever produced. Tickford's contribution was fairly minimal as the cars were delivered to Tickford merely to be fitted with the front and rear bobykit, sideskirts, vinyl graphics and a build number. Tickford produced 1,500 bodykits, but only 500 customer cars and 5 press demonstrators were built in a choice of four colours. Flame Red (215), British Racing Green (149), Black (49) and White (92). Most of the unused kits were then destroyed to ensure exclusivity.
