Former GB international Dave
Buckland has been appointed as
the Welsh National Korfball
coach
Buckland who following his GB
career went on to represent
Wales on 18 ocasasions, takes
over the role from Steve Jones
who led Wales to some success,
winning the Euro bowl (West)
tournament in 1997, and had
applied for the England Senior
squad coaching role before
taking this appointment.
The Welsh Korfball Association
are now looking for someone to
take on the assistant coaches
role for the national squad.
Wales had been set to compete in
the 2008 Commonwealth
Championships, but along with a
number of other nations were
forced to withdraw from the
competition at a late stage.
The English Korfball
Association, who also withdrew
their team from the Commonwealth
Championships, are in the
process of conducting a review
of their national squads and are
anticipated to appoint a new
senior squad coach later this
year, having recently parted
company with former national
squad coach Dirk Sercu.
