After a series of wins over
South African regional sides
Scotland found things a lot
tougher against the full South
African national team,
eventually losing the clash 23 -
9.
Scotland got off to a winning
start in their South Africa tour
with an 8 - 4 win over
regional side Guateng East and
subsequent close run wins over
other South African sides.
Scotland had been due to face
Zimbabwe later today but the
Zimbabwean team withdrew from
the event at the very last
minute, presumably due to the
worsening political situation in
the country.
In
light of that development the
decision of the EKA to withdraw
from the Commonwealth Korfball
Championships, following the
withdrawal of Australia, New
Zealand, Wales, Ireland and
India, appears a well judged one
and had they attended the
English would have found
themselves playing in a
tournament with just South
Africa, Scotland and some
regional teams.
Scotland now face the South
African Under 23 squad in their
next game in the series in what
should prove another tough test
