webcasting technical problems now resolved |

That at least was the headline on the IKF web site today but
sadly it was not the reality as Korfball fans around the world
once again found themselves staring at a blank screen as the
games in Taiwan were played.
As it turns out the KOC do not have the 'rights' to the WC video
transmissions and the IKF simply accepted their 'offer' to cover
the event, so at least historic coverage of the event might be
able to be broadcast in the future.
The question that of course begs is 'why did we not use the
tried and tested system used in the Hungary European
Championships
The coverage of this major event has been poor to put it mildly
and for a sport often starved of publicity and media exposure
this can only be bad news.
The KOC it seems managed to get the live feed working locally in
Kaohsung but that is as far as it got and they clearly have a
lot of work to do before they host something an event as big as
the World Games, now just months away
With Korfball history made today as the Belgians were beaten for
the first time in their 17 appearances at this level and the
potential for even more of the same on the weekend it remains a
great tragedy for the sport that only those who managed to get
to Kaohsung got to see it happen.
For those who were concerned that the Worldsport live statistics
feed had gone down in the England v Australia match, it turns
out that the lack of activity on the screen simply reflected the
lack of goal scoring or indeed other reportable activity on the
pitch, in what has been described as a somewhat 'boring' game.
