The International Korfball Federation has released its latest
World rankings this week including a number of changes to the
rankings table.
Chinese Taipei moved up from 4th place to 3rd behind 2nd placed
Belgium, displacing the Czech Republic who dropped from 3rd
place to 4th, while Russia moved up two places from 7th to 5th
place.
England retained their 6th place slot while Catalonia moved up
from 10th to 6th after their World Championships performance.
Portugal dropped from 5th to 8th having failed to qualify for
the World Youth Championships with Australia's disappointing
World Championships performance seeing them drop one place from
8th to 9th, while Germany dropped one place from 9th to 10th in
the world.
Hong Kong and China moved up to 13th and 14th place respectively
taking them above the more established countries such as Poland
and New Zealand while the USA remain in 18th place.
Wales sit one place above Scotland in 26th place.
The tables clearly reflect the progress made by the nations such
as Taipei, Russia, Catalonia and to an extent newcomers China
and Hong Kong and in the coming years we may see Chinese Taipei
challenge Belgium for 2nd place with Russia on course to
displace the Czech Republic from 3rd.
