EDUTAINMENT PRINCIPLES

There are a number of principles that must be adhered to when developing and installing your own EdutainmentWorld. These are firmly based in psychological and technological aspects of what has been termed 'Human Centered Systems'.

The description of these terms are still being discussed and refined. The practical application of this line of research are still relatively new but they are gaining ground rapidly. It is not the intention to write a full article here, just to highlight topics for further reading. (and in some cases to state the obvious)

  1. There must be a vision of the end-state. What will the organisation look like when we are a couple of years down the line.
  2. There must be senior level management commitment.
  3. Members of Staff must be led (by example) & re-motivated.
  4. Form teams for specific purposes with clearly defined objectives.
  5. Keep all activities small. (This may seem counter intuitive, but split all tasks up into many activities. Although this increases the administrative overhead it also increases the staff interactions and starts to generate the one-to-many didactic relationships needed.)
  6. Keep meetings regular, short and about every two weeks. (Yes, its going to take a long time.).
  7. The above are not really principals, more like rules-of-engagement. The principles of edutainment stem from many lines research. The area of Human Centred Systems is a good place to start as this covers psychology, technology, HCI, didactic aspects of learning and much more.

If you want a more personal explanation and a discussion as to how these principles could relate to your organisation please contact us.
