1955 Oval Beetle
My first exposure to a vintage VW project car - a RHD April '55 Deluxe Beetle, purchased from a friend in 1992 as 'the next project'. A very rough car which by the look of it had been stood in long grass for some time, as all four quarter panels were in need of replacement. Also in need of repair was the usual bottom 6" and the bonnet, luckily the deck lid had been stored inside the car and was immaculate.
The main reason I kept hold of this car for so long was knowing that I had access to an abundance of NOS parts as a result of a 'find' in 1994, otherwise this car would have been just unrestorable. The idea behind this project was to restore it and end up with an almost NOS '55 Oval! However I have recently decided to sell this car and all it's NOS parts, in order to concentrate my efforts on a future project.
