On a Cruise


Single Guy, Ht 6’ 1”, 13 stone, a good  sense of humor, shares house and interests, with Alan lifelong friend of 44 years.
I was born in the township of Wavertree Liverpool UK, and lived and worked there for half of my life, except for the period from 1940 to 1944, the war years, when my family moved house to Nth Wales Near to Holywell to escape the bombings, my Father was working in different parts of the country and visited us when ever he could.
I left school at the age of  thirteen and a half  through a government work permit to work on a farm, where we lived in a cottage owned by the farmer. We returned to Liverpool in 1944, where I took employment with the
London Midland and Scottish Railway company, (LMS) which was later nationalized and became British Rail (BR), I progressed through the grades, to become a fully qualified steam locomotive engine driver, I made many trips between Liverpool Lime street and London Euston. I was on the first Diesel engine from London To Liverpool. In 1946 I was conscripted into the Armed Forces (National Service) where I served for two years. After de mob I returned to my work with British Rail.( BR )

I volunteered to join the Territorial Army Royal Engineers in 1953 and gained the rank of Sergeant in charge of transport. After twelve years service I was awarded the long service and good conduct medals and listed in the London Gazette. After seventeen years on the railway, I took employment with Post Office Telephones ( PO ) which at the time was still part of the Civil Service later to become British Telecom (BT) I retired after twenty seven years service as a telephone engineer and I am now enjoying a well earned retirement.
We now live in North Wales overlooking the Irish sea and can still see Liverpool
