RAF LOCKING TODAY
RAF Locking closed during 1999. I, in some way had a part in it’s closure. I was part of the Project to move the training radars and airfield navaid equipments to the home of the new electronic training establishment at RAF Cosford. The new training facility is called "Flowerdown Hall". Within this building on the walls are all the Apprentice Shields from all of the RAF Locking Apprentice entries. They are grouped as follows: Aircraft Apprentice EntriesMany of the staff working in Flowerdown Hall are ex RAF Locking apprentices and know where there own entry shields can be found. The museum that was located within 2T Block at RAF Locking was moved on the closure to RAF Henlow. It has now being converted into a "History of signals within the RAF" museum and eventually it is hoped that it will be opened to the public.
