Dear Mr Malcolm

I have received your letter of 16 August about CUP and Freedom of Information. I am in the course of making inquiries, and particularly about the 1940 papers.

I have not had a recent opportunity of visiting the National Archives, but I note from the online catalogue that there is a 1940-1941 Inland Revenue file about the matter (Piece IR 40/19473).

I also note from a catalogue that a file for the period 1976-1978 is closed under the FOI Act because information was provided in confidence.

I will write to you again.

Yours sincerely,

A. Clark
