With reference to yours of 21st instant, I have detached my file.

I do not anticipate a great deal of difficulty in agreeing the computations to 31st March, 1941 which are before me, but they are voluminous and it in view of present working conditions may take some time to examine.

The Accountant also tells me verbally that it will be some months before he can proceed much further. The data with which he has been supplied for the purposes of the Section 27 claim, is very extensive and goes back over 200 years. He expects to find it necessary to carry out considerable research at Oxford.

In these circumstances it might be thought desirable to have an interim reply sent to Sir Alan Barlow acquainting him of the possibility of some delay, before a comprehensive survey of the facts becomes possible.
