The Literary Life (Books Diary piece), by Mark Sanderson The Sunday Telegraph, 2nd January 2000
Next month Oxford University Press will launch a free magazine. The imaginatively dubbed the magazine - surely OUP hasn't axed capital letters as well as the poetry list? - is designed to promote the Oxford World Classics series, which now features more than 600 titles.
Heavily influenced by a similar periodical produced by Waterstone's, the magazine includes articles, extracts and special offers, such as £5 off The Oxford Companion to Trollope. Although the imprint still issues the Authorised King James Version of the Bible, its remit has certainly widened. In March it will publish Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management.
This is the final item in Oxford's 1999 poetry fiasco series.
