The Oxbridge College Accounts Index
revamped June 2007

This unique Akme archive giving access to the accounts of the university colleges of Oxford and Cambridge has lately been revamped, firstly in order to bring it up to date (it now includes the latest Oxford accounts for the year 2005/6), and secondly to conserve precious website space. A separate history file explains the developments over recent years in the steadily widening access to these materials.

In the Oxford College Index below, clicking on Website will take you out of www.akme to each college's own website. Clicking on Fellows will bring up the college's entry in the Oxford University Calendar for the year 2003/04, including heraldic gibber, a potted history, and the Fellows lists (updates pending). The 2001/2 ('Franks') accounts, which include the colleges' 2000/01 figures, are in HTML format, reproducing the layout as closely as possible; they are linked, so it is possible to 'leaf through' the whole book. The 2005/6 ('SORP') accounts, which include some of the 2004/5 figures, are in PDF format, scanned at 150 dpi to minimise file size, and require Acrobat Reader. All Souls' accounts are scanned complete, but with the colleges thereafter, the accounts' index (if any), Responsibilities of the Governing Body, Statement of Principal Accounting Policies and Independent Auditors' Report have been omitted. The New College link* takes you to New College's own posting of its accounts (the only Oxford college so far to have done so). For PDF copies of the accounts for the years between 2001 and 2004, please e-mail your requirement to akme@btinternet.com or go to the AKMEDIA CD-ROM panel at the foot of this file.

The Oxford accounts index is followed by analyses in MSExcel format of the Oxford colleges' endowment incomes going back to the year 1973, comparisons of their performance, 'league' table positions and so forth, many of which reveal startling anomalies and failures. There then follows an index and links to some of the annual accounts of some of the CAMBRIDGE colleges, several of which have in recent years (perhaps as a result of this Akme index) begun posting up their accounts themselves.
