21/11/02 R calls me in his office first thing in the morning. He snaps at me about coming in late in the morning and finishing early. I reacted by saying that he is hardly ever in. We then talked about the Auditors' letter. Then I explain to him than I have given more of my time over the years. When doing my final accounts, I come to work on Saturdays and Sundays and in the evening stay till 11 p.m. No one complains or enquires after my health. I said to him that he works hard at times and then goes away when not too busy. He started shouting at me, screaming "How dare you speak to me like that!" I got up and left his office as I could not tolerate anyone shouting at me.
20/12/02 Just before the Warden's party R storms into my office demanding if that was my car parked next to the plant pots. He wanted it removed from there. I pointed out that the previous day (19/12/02) a black BMW was parked there but he did not ask the driver to remove it. Besides by noon I would be leaving anyway. So why pick on me? I moved my car.
At noon just as I was leaving the Warden's party R stopped me to ask for my and my staff's passwords for entry into the computer. I feel that this was inappropriate. Why not discuss the issue with me earlier? I felt that passwords are personal property and should not be divulged under any circumstances. His P.A. told my staff that it was against the Data Protection Act to disclose the passwords. Why the urgency? R's P.A. called my assistant, Julie Hernandez, to ask for the passwords. Julie was intimidated into disclosing her own password. Despite being armed with this information, R then misused his Bursarial power to get the IT manager, Steve Kersley, to change my password to the accounting system (without my consent). He also asked him to disable external access to the system. I had asked the software house to look into a problem I had encountered. I am not sure if they were successful before Steve disabled the access.
