Dear Diamond

As you are aware, before Christmas I began to have some concerns about some of the Accounts operation. In order to put these to rest before my break I asked Stephen Dexter to come and have a look through the accounts and bank statements, which he did on 2nd Jan.

His enquiries did throw up some questions which I was unable to answer and also some recommendations about how we might improve controls for the future. I think it would be helpful if the three of us could meet on my return from holiday to address these. I've arranged for Stephen to come in for a meeting at 2 p.m. on Monday, 13th January and I'd be grateful if you would join us then.

On a related matter, you will recall that, just before the break, I asked you for your password to the accounting system. Unfortunately I couldn't find it on my desk and Julie didn't have it so, in order to access the system, I asked Steve to change your password to one I could give Stephen Dexter to use. Please would you contact Steve Kersley to obtain a new password - and apologies for the inconvenience.

You and I also have a meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. on 14th Jan to review progress on the SORP re-statement of the 2002 accounts. I'm sure you've already identified this as the priority for January, and I hope that on the 14th we shall have a first draft to go through.

In my absence Martin Oldfield is happy to help with any bursarial matters.

Happy New Year!

Roger
