IMPORTANT - to all junior members

Some of you will have seen in the press already that Keble has lost an employment tribunal on grounds both of unfair dismissal and of race discrimination. We are naturally very concerned about this serious matter and will be considering an appeal.

However it will take some weeks before any decisions are taken and until we know the implications, and in the meantime there may well be more adverse media coverage. Meanwhile I have been in touch with the Vice-Chancellor and the University, and they have been extremely helpful.

We reject the charge of racial discrimination, but we will of course be considering our equality policy and practice very carefully in the light of the judgement. I have already been in touch with the JCR and MCR Presidents who have been extremely supportive, for instance in writing spontaneously to the press on the College's behalf, and I will be talking to them further. We remain as a College totally committed to fairness and equality, and if any of you have any questions I would be very willing to answer them either now by email or when you return to College.
