Malcolm vs.Oxford University, 1986 Chancery Division Ch M. 7710

Evidence (Red) File page 20 Transcript of Hardy/Malcolm telephone conversation, 26th November 1984

Malcolm: Forgive me for phoning but I sent you a typescript, just over a month or so ago, called 'Making Names'.

Hardy: Indeed. I'm sorry that you haven't had a reply. The reason is that it is with a reader and, er, I saw the reader the other day and I said that I'd hoped that he would be getting back to me and he hasn't, and he said he would do so and I hope it will come back in the next few days.

Malcolm: Ah.

Hardy: I haven't forgotten about it and I shall continue to press him.

Malcolm: Right. Well, don't erm... Having hassled you... pass it on that in a way I'm happier that the more time he spends with it the better.

Hardy: I think that's true. I mean I think, you know, if you press for a quick response it's more likely to be negative.

Malcolm: Yes, quite. Well, not only that, it's particularly... It's fairly long and it takes a while to get into it.

Hardy: Right.

Malcolm: And it's a matter, I hope, of someone persevering in there long enough to see how it all comes together.

Hardy: Right.

Malcolm: Which does take a little bit of seeing perhaps, but...

Hardy: Well, I won't put undue pressure on him. I'll just make inquiries.

Malcolm: Yes. In fact, un-press him...

Hardy: You had a reason for ringing up?

Malcolm: No, I just didn't like the idea that it had gotten forgotten.

Hardy: No, so long as I'm responsible for it, that won't happen anyway.

Malcolm: Splendid. Right.

Hardy: Okay?

Malcolm: Okay.

Hardy: I hope to be able to write to you before so very long.

Malcolm: Well, as I say, don't, don't rush anything.

Hardy: Okay, no, I take your point.

Malcolm: Okay.

Hardy: Okay?

Malcolm: Thank you.

Hardy: Thanks for ringing. Bye.

Malcolm: Bye.
