Evidence (Red) File page 61, Memo from Henry Hardy to Richard Charkin, 17th July 1985

Subject: Malcolm, Making Names

Since it was Alan Ryan's support for this that started the ball rolling in its favour, I rang him to tell him that you were unwilling to let it through. He has asked me to leave you this note to say that he'd like to talk to you about the book before you write to Malcolm, and will be ringing you tomorrow morning with this in view. He thinks you'd be wrong to dump it: it's in some ways an eccentric book, certainly, and for that reason among others better off as a General Book - but worth publishing just the same. H.
