Malcolm vs. Oxford University, 1986 Chancery Division (Damages Assessment) CHANF 92/0058/B

Affidavit of Galen Strawson, 19th June 1991

I, GALEN JOHN STRAWSON, of Jesus College, Oxford MAKE OATH AND SAY as follows:

1. I am a Fellow and Tutor in Philosophy at Jesus College, Oxford. In July 1985, I was a temporary lecturer at St. Hugh's College Oxford. 2. On or about 11 July 1985, I received a letter from Angus Phillips, Assistant Editor, enclosing a copy of a typescript entitled "Making Names" together with the background information referred to in that letter which is page 1 of a bundle of correspondence now produced and shown to me marked "GJS 1".

3. I had previously discussed the typescript with Henry Hardy who had expressed his interest in it. On 14 July 1985, I sent a letter to Henry Hardy, a copy of which is page 2 of Exhibit "GJS 1". The contents of that letter accurately reflect my opinion at that time of those portions of the typescript that I read.

Sworn in Oxford by GALEN STRAWSON, 19th June 1991.
