Stony Live 2004 Friday June 11th

Let me tell you about Friday. I went for lunch in Stony and bumped into the Battle Field. Something I must admit does not happen everyday. My intention of the day was to see mainly the Battlefield Band in concert, but I thought it only right that I went and saw the other guys on as well. Del Brohman was on in the Fox. I think those who were there were treated to a very entertaining show. I don’t know if you know this but Del plays with a great band called So seeing him do some solo stuff was a real treat. I heard afterwards that he was doing Hendrix impressions later in the show.

Penders Fen were on in the crown.. unplugged (pointless expression as everybody knows even the acoustics are plugged in). I reliably told that I have been spelling their name wrong. But as you know I am not known for my accuracy with the alphabet!.

And Finally back to the Battlefield Band. There is something about the bagpipes that turns every Scotsman (and I must confess this here Englishman) into yehaa, whooping cowboys ready to jump up and dance around and the mere squeeze of the bagpipe. Anyway that’s what it is for. Blow up instruments are the cause and I think the fine quality of the musicianship was the effect. This is a very professional band, but I must say what nice people they are with it. The venue was sold out and I think everybody felt a little nostalgic for pleasure north of the border. Where is Matt’s whiskey when I need it.
