Diary Sunday June 9th 2002

On Sunday.. it was Folk on the Green. I had a great time. Having the privilege of kicking the event off in Five Men Not Called Mat. There was only four of us. But even when we are whole there are six!!! So I don’t think people were to confused.

Then the rain came down. However I was amazed at the steadfast audience who stayed and watched. I must admit I sneaked down to Vaults Bar for the early sessions. Heard that Mat Armour needed some support in the session. Two hours later and with my vision not as good as it was.. I trotted back up to the green in the rain to see even more people standing under umbrellas and enjoying Sugarland Slim a great Delta Blues Band. Well the day continued with such delights as Dark Horse, Horten’s Heroes, Vivant and Mud Wrestling…….!!!!?????? I know….. the youth of today… They have so much fun.

And then our patience paid off when the Sun came out for the last few acts. Finished off by a blistering set from Tickled Pink. Well done to all the organisers, compares, soundmen and Pete Jelf (see photo)  the event was a great success.
