Diary Sunday June 16th 2002

Seems strange.. I went to the Bowl to day to see a succession of girl..boy bands with 30,000 in the audience singing to backing tapes.. Yet I see my friends with similar levels of professionalism and ten times as much talent in the Fox and Hounds. From Roland Keating to Roddy Clenaghan. I wonder how many of the artists at the Bowl today would fair in front of the audience in Ken's pub.. singing Bob Dylan.  mmmm.

The Dylan night is the last gasp before we wined Stony Live up.  We had a little problem with the electricity to start with.. but with persistence and a heavy duty extension lead from the back of the car, we were able to continue. Unfortunately Ana, after dealing with the football fans in the Vaults yesterday, was suffering a bit from a sore throat,, so Roddy sang her songs. We then had a line up of the people you have seen through the week. Including Ian and Andy from the Bullfrogs. Ian and Irene.. who invited me up to play harp on a number. Kevin Cranfield.. who borrowed my band and of course three quarters of Memphis Plates... that's my lot.  Roddy joined the band during "All along the watch tower" and we finished up by getting everybody on stage for "I shall be released". Thanks to Bob Bryant for doing the sound.

By the way he keeps telling me, that people stop him in the street and do Alien impressions!!!!  uulaaaaa!!!

The pub was absolutely packed so.. I think we have seen Stony Live off to a successful conclusion. I am now so tired that I could sleep for week. So let me close with some final thoughts.

The people on the Stony Live Committee..  Me. Ian Andersen.. Ken Daniels.. Matt Armour .. and Keith Smith.. wish to thank you all for turning up and making the audience. Without you it would not happen. There are many other helpers such as all the Stewards, Roddy for the Art Work.. Penny for the printing.. and I know I have missed some people, but they all have contributed to  make Stony Live a festival for the community run by the community. We have so much talent in this town that can scale to heights of War of the Worlds.. Singing almost any style of music.. dance many styles of dance.. paint wonderful pictures. I can't imagine anywhere else I would rather live.

I will be adding some pictures to this web site as they come in. In fact why don't you send me some and keep coming back to the site. and as anecdotes come out I may drop you a line. And don't forget Reg will be putting his photographs in the Fox and Hounds for you to buy...

But until then this is Andy Powell.. signing off. .. See you next year. There is no more :-(

The End
