Axis and Allies
Army Lists for 'Hordes of the Things'
By Roger Cooper
The popular board wargame Axis & Allies provides ready-made (albeit small-scale) World War 2 miniatures. In HOTT terms these could be modelled as:
Stronghold: An Industrial Complex
|
Hordes @ 1AP |
(Infantry) |
4 |
|
Knights @ 2AP |
(Tanks) |
3 |
|
Artillery @ 3AP |
(AA Gun) |
1 |
|
Air Boat @ 3AP |
(Fighter) |
2 |
|
Dragon @ 4AP |
(Bomber) |
1 |
|
Water Lurker @ 1AP |
(Submarine) |
1 |
The general could be any ground unit type.
Options: The numbers are very variable. You can have up to 17 Hordes(infantry), up to 10 Knights(Tanks), up to 12 Artillery(AA Guns), up to 10 Air Boats(fighters), up to 3 Dragons(Bombers), up to 6 Water Lurkers(Submarines). You could customise AA Guns, by making them +2 vs Flyers and -1 vs ground units. Bombers could be treated as Air Boats with -2 vs Flyers and a +1 vs ground units. You could have up to 3 bombarding battleships which could be treated as either Artillery or Gods.
Alternative:
Normally, industrial-age armies are classed under HOTT as not having shooters, because all the missile weapons on each side cancel out. If you want a more realistic performance against a pre-industrial army try:
|
Shooters @ 2AP |
(Infantry) |
4 |
|
Artillery @ 2AP |
(Tank) |
2 |
|
Aerial Hero @ 6AP |
(Fighter) |
