Berkeley 2001 Report

No one was expecting a German army with a walker at all...
Behemoth General - German Gear Krieg walker
Behemoth - Panzer II
Riders x 2 - German bikers
Knights - Bikes with sidecars
Shooters x 5 - Infantry.
In theory, a relatively balanced army with some good potential for fun and good tactics. In practice, probably the same without me being in charge of it. The games that stand out with this were against Richard Tyson - a loss but a damn fun, well fought, close game. One game against Sebastian which was quite superb, John Carter vs the Nazis of Mars. The Germans were getting a real kicking, 10 points to 2 down, when the Panzer II "sneaked up on the stronghold" (how does a behemoth battle tank sneak, precisely?) and captured it, one turn before getting an airboat enema. That was close...
The other notable game was against Thomo (sadly lacking in lederhosen) who took the Martians out for a return trip to kick my behind. Which he did quite thoroughly. Due to a devastating final round of combat, I was left with only 6 points on the table, and a large number of cross Martians only half an inch from the stronghold, and a dead general. Some victories deserve more than 48 points, that was one of them... The following game against Ken where I only lost half the army seemed almost like a victory in comparison...
A good fun weekend, with several other very entertaining games, and two friendly games which had been on the cards for a while. Flower Wars the sequel at next Berkeley 2002 then?
