The Battle of Carabobo
The Royalists under La Torre established a strong defensive position where the road to Valencia entered the plain of Carabobo. Bolivar sent a flank march through dense terrain, and La Torre moved to block it. The Republicans were initially held, but eventually broke through into the Royalist rear, forcing La Torre to retire. With this victory, the fate of Spanish forces in Venezuela was sealed.
